Team HomeFront Pro vs. the Standard Manufacturer Warranty

Team HomeFront Pro is our coverage program for new systems: 10 years of parts and labor protection from the date of installation. To see why that second word carries most of the value, you need to understand what a standard manufacturer warranty actually covers — and what it quietly leaves out. Most homeowners discover the difference at the worst time: standing next to a dead system with a "covered" part and an uncovered bill.

What does a standard manufacturer warranty really cover?

Most manufacturers cover parts for 10 years — typically requiring you to register the product after installation, a step that's easy to miss in move-in chaos — but labor for just one year. So when a part fails in year four, the replacement component itself ships free, and you pay the full service bill: the diagnostic visit to identify the failure, the labor to remove the old part and install the new one, and any refrigerant or materials the job requires. On major repairs, labor is often the larger share of the invoice. The "10-year warranty" on the brochure was never false — it just wasn't the whole story, and the gap between parts coverage and labor coverage is where the surprise bills live.

What does Team HomeFront Pro change?

It closes the labor gap for a full decade: Team HomeFront Pro covers virtually all potential repair costs on your new system for 10 years from installation — the parts and the labor to install them. That converts the biggest unknown in HVAC ownership (a surprise four-figure repair in year six) into a known quantity: covered. It also changes the relationship. For ten years, the company that installed your system is the company accountable for keeping it running — no finger-pointing between a manufacturer, a distributor, and whichever contractor answers the phone. New-system customers who choose Team HomeFront Pro also often receive two years of Team HomeFront Club membership — our maintenance plan with bi-annual visits, VIP priority service, and 15% repair discounts — at no additional cost, which keeps the system maintained the way coverage terms expect.

When should you weigh this decision?

At purchase time — extended coverage is a new-system decision, not something to bolt on years later. If you're currently comparing equipment tiers, coverage belongs in the comparison alongside efficiency and brand: a mid-tier system with 10 years of full parts-and-labor coverage can beat a premium system with one year of labor protection on total cost of ownership, because the downside risk is capped. Our guide to Carrier vs. builder-grade equipment covers the equipment side of that evaluation, and heat pump vs. AC-plus-furnace covers the system-type decision that comes before it.

What are the fine-print failure modes?

With any coverage, anywhere, three things bite homeowners. Unregistered equipment: many manufacturers reduce parts coverage if the product was never registered, so confirm registration happened — we handle it, but if another company installed your system, check. Skipped maintenance: coverage terms generally assume the system was maintained; a neglected system can give a warranty department reasons to argue. And vague quotes: any "warranty" mentioned verbally but not specified in writing — parts, labor, term, and who performs the work — is a story, not coverage. Get every term on paper before you sign, from us or anyone else. Team HomeFront Pro has its own terms too: some restrictions apply, and your comfort advisor will walk you through the full details before you commit, in plain language, with no pressure.

How do you get covered?

Review the program on our Team HomeFront Pro page, then start your new-system conversation with our AC installation team in New Braunfels — every install begins with Manual J sizing and an upfront, itemized quote that spells out coverage in writing. Prefer to keep protecting an existing system instead? The Team HomeFront Club covers maintenance from $15.75/month or $189/year, with priority service and repair discounts while your current system finishes its tour of duty.

Very happy with the work and professionalism that HomeFront provided.
They were very quick to respond to my initial request, within the same day. Made an appointment for the following day, with a very flexible schedule. Their pricing was very fair for the quality of work.

I had LG mini splits that were failing after just 12 years in service. I knew that I wanted Mitsubishi but also wanted ideas about a better approach. Just as we were getting bids to replace the multi system, it failed and we were left with only one unit in the main living area.
